Few fixtures carry the legacy of a Champions League clash between Real Madrid and AC Milan, two giants who together have lifted Europe’s top club trophy a combined 22 times.
Tuesday’s showdown at the Santiago Bernabeu means even more for Carlo Ancelotti who’s led both clubs to Champions League glory, but now as manager of Real Madrid, Ancelotti will be plotting to bring down his old side.
Real Madrid took a bruising from Barcelona in El Clasico, but with an unexpected weekend off – their match against Valencia postponed due to flash floods – they’ll come into this fixture not only fresher than Milan but eager to give the Bernabeu faithful something to cheer about.
Real are averaging over two goals per game across all competitions this season, and given their ruthless record at the Bernabeu in this competition, where they’ve smashed in eight goals across their last two games, there will be plenty of optimism in Madrid about their chances. Los Blancos have, in fact, scored three or more goals in three of their last five home matches, a scary prospect for any visiting team, especially one like Milan, whose defence has looked anything but solid lately.
Much of Real’s bite in attack comes down to Vinicius Junior, who bagged a hat trick against Dortmund last time out in this competition. With the Brazilian expected to be paired with the electric duo of Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo upfront, the hosts should give the visitors plenty to worry about.
However, while Real have been on fire in front of goal, they’ve been far from impressive at the other end, conceding in multiple games, and with defensive stalwarts like Dani Carvajal, Thibaut Courtois, and David Alaba still out, Milan will fancy their chances of at least nicking a goal at the Bernabeu.
Uphill Task for Milan
As for Milan, they’ve also been poor defensively, leaking five goals across their three Champions League games and conceding 11 in ten Serie A fixtures.
Paulo Fonseca’s side’s away record in the Champions League doesn’t inspire much confidence either – only three wins in their last 14 away games make a night at the Bernabeu sound like an even taller order.
The Rossoneri have injury worries of their own but the return of Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek should add a bit more bite to a side that already boasts Rafael Leao and Emerson Royal. Even with these returns, though, it’s hard to see Milan taking much away from this visit to the Bernabeu.
Betting Tips: Goal/Goal & Over 2.5; Real to Win & Goal/Goal; Vinicius Junior to Score
05/11 21:00 Real Madrid – AC Milan Goal/Goal & Over 2.5 @ 1.87; Real to Win & Goal/Goal @ 1.85; Vinicius Junior to Score @ 2.05 (Betano)
Encounters between Real Madrid and AC Milan rarely disappoint, and with Real’s phenomenal scoring record at home in Europe, Tuesday’s clash offers plenty of promising betting options, especially in the goals market.
Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.87
Real’s lethal attack which has plundered eight goals in two Champions League home fixtures comes up against a porous Milan defence that concedes goals like they’re going out of fashion, having let in five goals in three UCL matches and 11 goals in 10 Serie A fixtures.
Real have also been defensively vulnerable themselves this season, so we believe this match should see both sides contribute to the scoreline which is why our first betting tip is to back Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals at 1.87 odds on Betano.
Real Madrid vs AC Milan - Goal/Goal & Over 2.5 @ 1.87Real Madrid to Win and Both Teams to Score @ 1.85 odds
For our second betting tip, we are backing Real Madrid to Win and Both Teams to Score at 1.85 odds on Betano.
Not only will Real be looking to bounce back convincingly from their sobering El Clasico defeat, they’re also sufficiently rested having not played at the weekend.
Milan’s torrid record on the road – just three wins in their last 14 away games in the Champions League – makes them the perfect opponent for the hosts to get back to winning ways.
Real Madrid vs AC Milan - Real Madrid to Win and Both Teams to Score @ 1.85Vinicius Junior to Score @ 2.05
We’re also jumping aboard the Vinicius Junior train and betting on the Brazilian to score any time at an excellent 2.05 odds on Betano.
Vinicius is at the heart of everything going forward for Real, and as his hat-trick against Dortmund shows, he is a killer in front of goal and will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a Milan defence that leaks worse than a sieve.
