Inter Milan

Inter claimed the Scudetto in very dominant fashion last season, finishing a staggering 19 points ahead of city rivals AC Milan, and they have been installed as favourites in the outright betting to win the Serie A 2024/2025 title.

Leading betting site 18bet has installed the Nerazzurri as short odds-on favourites at 1.60 odds to successfully defend their title.

While the start to their title defence left a lot to be desired as they fell to a last-minute equaliser at Genoa, it is still early days in the title race. Manager Simone Inzaghi will undoubtedly have identified plenty of positives to build upon, especially given the standout performance of Marcus Thuram, who scored a brace.

Though Lautaro Martínez, who scored 24 goals last season and claimed the Golden Boot, didn’t score against Genoa, the Argentine remains a reliable goal machine. His abilities were on full display at the Copa America, where he also emerged as the top scorer, helping Argentina lift the trophy. Martinez is now in his prime and his goals will be crucial to Inter’s title defence.

Inter’s squad depth has improved as well, with the addition of seasoned striker Mehdi Taremi and dynamic midfielder Piotr Zieliński. With these additions, the Nerazzurri arguably boast a stronger team than the one that clinched the title last season.

Manager Inzaghi has quietly carved a reputation as one of the best tactical masterminds in Europe and will be confident in his ability to guide Inter to back-to-back Serie A titles – something no team has achieved since Juventus’ nine-season title-winning run ended in 2019/20.

Juventus

Juventus, the undisputed kings of Serie A with a record number of titles, are once again expected to be in the thick of the title race. The Old Lady’s pedigree and history demand nothing less. This season, they’ve been installed as the second favourites at 4.50 odds to win the Serie A 2024/2025 title.

Last season was a tumultuous one for the Bianconeri, who finished a disappointing third, a full 23 points adrift of champions Inter Milan. This underwhelming performance led to the departure of Massimiliano Allegri, with Thiago Motta taking the helm.

Motta, who impressed many with his work at Bologna will be expected to restore Juventus to their former glory. Fans will also expect a departure from Allegri’s more pragmatic style to the more attacking approach Motta implemented at his former club.

The club has also backed their new manager with a strong transfer window. Khéphren Thuram and Douglas Luiz have bolstered the midfield, while Juan Cabal and last season’s best goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, have strengthened the defence.

With these reinforcements and a renewed focus under Motta, Juventus should be well-positioned to challenge for the Serie A title and, will hope this season brings an end to a title drought that has lasted since the 2020/2021 season.

AC Milan

Milan’s quest to overthrow arch-rivals Inter has stumbled out of the gate. A disappointing home draw against Torino in their season opener was a far cry from the statement they hoped to make, especially after Inter also dropped points.

Finishing a whopping 19 points behind Inter last season underscores the immense challenge ahead. Every point matters, particularly at home. While it’s still early days for new manager Paulo Fonseca, the pressure is on to get Milan firing.

Morata’s debut goal is a promising sign, and his potential chemistry with the prolific Rafael Leão who notched 15 goals and 8 assists last season could be a game-changer. Milan conceded a concerning 49 goals last season, the most among the top five teams, and their defensive woes have carried over into this campaign. Letting in two goals in the opener highlights the work needed to solidify the backline, a priority for Fonseca if he hopes to win the Scudetto in his first season.

Fortunately, Fonseca has a talented defensive core at his disposal, including Theo Hernandez, Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw, and new recruit Strahinja Pavlović. With these players, he has the building blocks for a formidable defence.

AC Milan to win the Serie A 2024/2025 title is priced at 8.00 odds on 18bet.

Napoli

Napoli are in desperate need of a club-wide overhaul after a disastrous 2023/2024 campaign. Their title defence was a complete shambles, culminating in a tenth-place finish – their worst league position in two decades. A managerial merry-go-round featuring four different coaches preceded the appointment of Antonio Conte, whose winning pedigree should offer a glimmer of hope for the Neapolitans.

Conte won the Serie A as manager of Juventus and Inter Milan and is aiming for a hat-trick of Scudetti with Napoli. His proven track record has installed them as fourth favourites at 9.00 odds to win the Serie A 2024/2025 title.

Gli Azzurri have already made strides to rebuild the squad with the signings of Leonardo Spinazzola from Roma and Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino. However, the departure of midfield stalwart Piotr Zieliński to Inter Milan on a free transfer and the uncertain future of three-time consecutive top scorer Victor Osimhen has cast a shadow over their chances. Napoli must resolve Osimhen’s situation swiftly to secure a replacement, with Romelu Lukaku a potential target. Any delay could leave them playing catch-up from the outset.

To challenge for the title, Napoli must also improve their performance against the league’s top teams. If they can address these key areas, a return to the summit of Italian football is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Atalanta

Atalanta’s scintillating performances propelled them to a fourth-place finish in Serie A last season, and they’ll be eager to replicate that success this term. Despite their impressive run, the odds are stacked against them as significant underdogs in the title race.

At 23.00 odds, La Dea are far behind the other top contenders, casting them as dark horses in the Serie A 2024/2025 title race.

However, their unforgettable journey to the Europa League title, highlighted by a thrilling victory over Liverpool at Anfield and a dominant 3-0 defeat of previously unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen in the final, will ensure they won’t be underestimated by the other top contenders.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side play a thrilling brand of attacking football that has captured the hearts of neutral fans. His ability to blend youth and experience, coupled with tactical adaptability, means Atalanta will have a say in the title race.

However, while they may have loftier ambitions, repeating last season’s Champions League qualification might be a more realistic target for this campaign.
